Glob@l Libraries - Bulgaria Programme
was launched on Nov 5th, 2009. It was proposed that 455 public libraries from 234 municipalities be included in the first phase (2009 Phase). The Sofia City Library was one of them.
The Programme
intends to stimulate the modernization of libraries throughout the country, thus help Bulgarian citizens better integrate into the global information society. The partner libraries will be provided with Internet access, computers, office equipment, and training for the library staff who service visitors. Libraries are expected to broaden their activities, become more attractive places for visitors and to play an increasingly important role in the local development.
